Meet Sara

Sara Werner, MA, LP, LPC, RPT-S, SEP is the co-creator of the Somatic Experiential Play Therapy Model, co-owner of Watershed Psychological Services, founder and first President of the Minnesota Association for Play Therapy, assistant and approved provider for Somatic Experiencing, and an adjunct faculty for multiple graduate counseling programs.

Sara has served in the mental health field for almost 30 years and has a passion for equipping therapists to grow and develop in their understanding of trauma and how to support the nervous system to heal from significant trauma and overwhelm. She also has a desire to support therapists to further develop skills in understanding metaphor and understanding the importance of therapist responses that can help the children process at a deeper level.

Sara also loves to walk alongside parents to support their understanding of their children and to develop parenting strategies that support their child’s emotions and nervous system regulation along with learning the importance of their own regulation.
